Today, Civil Rights Defense Firm, P.C. (CRDF), through Chief Counsel Joshua Prince, filed a letter in opposition to Baltimore City’s proposed ordinance: Weapons – Prohibiting Handguns Near Places of Public Assembly.
As set forth in the letter, inter alia, Chief Counsel Prince reviews how the ordinance is in violation of the U.S. Supreme Court’s holding in D.C. v. Heller, that the proposal would only “ensnare those, who have no intention of violating the law but whom unwarily find themselves in a Baltimore City, which, unbeknownst to them, imposes restrictions on their rights that state law otherwise allows” and that it would strip the judiciary and State’s attorney of discretion.
As our viewers are acutely aware, Maryland’s firearm laws are already extremely draconian, even in the absence of this proposal. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that the residents of Maryland let the Baltimore City Council know that they vehemently oppose this proposal.
Together, we can ensure that our Rights and Liberties are not further encroached upon!
